At the heart of Downtown Storrs is Betsy Paterson Square, "where the Mansfield community, the University, and the larger regional community find common ground."

Since its completion in 2015, Betsy Paterson Square has become the main space for everything from casual meetings between friends and neighbors to large special events, such as the Celebrate Mansfield Festival.

If you or your organization would like to host an event on Paterson Square, please complete this request form. You may return the completed application by mail, email, or in person. Complete the form, save the completed form to your computer, and then either email the saved form or print it.

There is a $10 fee to submit a request. The fee may be paid with cash or check. At this time, we are unable to accept credit cards.

The Partnership will review each request based on the dates available, special requirements, and anticipated attendance, among other factors. If additional Town permits are required, the Partnership will direct you to the appropriate municipal department.

The Partnership will also promote your events when possible through its Downtown Storrs Event Calendar.

Please feel free to contact the Mansfield Downtown Partnership with any questions.

Elizabeth C. Paterson served as Mayor of Mansfield from 1999 to 2015. In 2016, the Town Council named the square “Betsy Paterson Square” in recognition of Mayor Paterson’s service to the Town, her leadership in redeveloping Downtown Storrs, and her role in advocating for and creating a public space to be used and enjoyed by all.
